The Sims 4: Cottage Living - Bangers & Mash
Soul food in Henford-on-Bagley never tasted so good! A delicious hearty meal of juicy, succulent sausages atop of mashed potato with a rich onion gravy. The family are sure to love this!

1kg/2lbs Royal Blue/Yukon Gold potatoes, peeled and diced
1 tsp salt
3 tbsp butter
½ cup cream or milk
8 pork sausages
1 tbsp olive oil
1 cup strong beef stock
2 tbsp butter
1 large brown/yellow onion, thinly sliced
¼ tsp wholegrain mustard
½ tbsp balsamic vinegar
1 sprig fresh thyme
1 sprig fresh sage
2 cups strong beef stock
2 tbsp plain flour
3 tbsp water
salt & pepper to taste
In a large saucepan, cover potatoes with water and add salt.
Bring to a boil and then reduce to simmer, cooking for 10-15 minutes or until just tender.
Drain then add butter and cream. Mash to your preferred consistency. Keep warm and set aside.
Place a frypan over medium heat and heat oil. Add sausages and cook until lightly browned on each side.
Add beef stock then cover with lid, ensuring it has a small opening to allow a little steam to escape. Cook for 8-10 minutes, turning the sausages every few minutes.
After they've cooked, remove the lid and allow the liquid to evaporate. Continue to cook on med low for 5-10 minutes until sausages are cooked through. Remove from the pan, keep warm and set aside.
Using the same frypan as the sausages, melt butter over medium low heat.
Add sliced onions and cook until slightly brown and fragrant, 5-10 minutes.
Stir in mustard, vinegar and herbs, cooking for 1-2 minutes, stirring continuously.
In a small cup, mix together plain flour and water until you create a paste. Combine with beef stock and ensure no lumps.
Add beef stock mixture to the frypan and scrape the bottom of the pan to deglaze. Allow to simmer for 5-10 minutes until it thickens to your liking.
Add mash to bowls then top with sausages and a big spoonful of gravy. Serve with a sprinkling of chopped parsley.
