Meet Molly & Troy
— The Story Behind Miss Molly Makes
Molly and Troy have been together since 2014. You wouldn’t believe it: Molly was the boss’s daughter, and Troy was the IT manager at her family’s furniture and homewares company! Best friends to life partners!
But what connected us had nothing to do with job titles — travel, food, and a shared refusal to do things the conventional way. We got engaged in Nepal, married in Los Angeles, and have been living life on our own terms ever since.
Who we are
Molly – First, the elephant in the room — “Molly” is a nickname from her mum and grandma, after the nursery rhyme “Miss Molly Had a Dolly.” Her real name is Lauren. She spent years as an operating room nurse and clinical nurse educator before she ever touched a mixing bowl professionally — trained to be precise, calm under pressure, and with a genuine love of teaching. She brought all of that into the kitchen as a self-taught cook. Over the past 10 years, she’s also taught herself photography, so every photo and video you see of Miss Molly Makes — and most of what you see on this website — is hers.
Troy – An Operations IT Engineer by day, Superman by night. He keeps the tech running, taste-tests every batch before it goes into full production (a job he takes very seriously), and brings Molly’s many crazy ideas to life that allow the business to keep moving.

Building a community
In 2017, we packed up for Melbourne, chasing adventure while Troy had an idea: start streaming on Twitch. What began as a way to share our world became a community — one we built recipes for, wrote three self-published cookbooks for, and eventually worked with companies like Blizzard, Activision, Bethesda, Uber Eats, Twitch ANZ, and more.
Where the brownies came from
Through all of it, people watching kept telling Molly the same thing: they wanted to eat her food through the screen. It all clicked over a three-week-old brownie — still unbelievably fudgy, still amazing — and we knew we had to share brownies like that with everyone, not just our stream.

Why customisation isn't optional
Molly has always been the person who wants one of everything on the menu, or loves to switch it up to suit exactly what she’s craving that day.
Most brands don’t offer that kind of customisation because it’s expensive and requires a lot of behind-the-scenes work. We built Miss Molly Makes to do it anyway — because if Molly wouldn’t settle for one flavour, why should you?
Gifting is our love language
We spend real time and effort curating gifts for each other and the people we love — birthdays, Christmas, no occasion at all. We know how much a thoughtful, different, fun gift can make someone feel seen. That’s the whole reason Miss Molly Makes exists: to bring that same feeling to everyone we ship to.

What we've achieved
We’re a small team, but we’ve built something real. 1,400+ happy customers have trusted us with their gifts so far, backed by many five-star reviews that keep us accountable and keep us going. Along the way, we’ve taken on corporate gifting orders for businesses who wanted something more memorable than the usual bunch of flowers — including Bethesda ANZ, McDonald’s, and more!
What's next
We’re just getting started. You’ll start seeing us out at local farmers’ markets soon… nothing beats handing someone a brownie in person. Beyond that, our goal isn’t small: we want Miss Molly Makes to become Australia’s biggest gifting brownie company. And we want to build it in a way that grows alongside our own family, not instead of it.
Chocolate, eggs, butter, sugar and flour
A brownie is simple. So how are our brownies special?
