Cucumber & Elderflower G&T

I was first made this Elderflower, Cucumber & Orange G&T by a cousin and instantly fell in love. It is perfect if you love a cocktail (or mocktail) that is slightly sweet and very refreshing.

Why this recipe is amazing

Flavour: Fresh, fruity and floral all in one!

Difficulty & Time: Easy as pour, stir and drink!

Versatility: Try different varieties of gin and tonic water. Add more or less elderflower to your preference.

What ingredients are needed

Elderflower Syrup/Cordial: Fresh, fruity, slightly floral flavour that has a tropic, lychee and pear vibe. It is readily available at many grocery stores..

Gin: I prefer a citrus heavy gin like FourPillars but play around and see what you prefer! Its a nice excuse to make it again 😛

Cucumber: Fresh, crisp cucumber is amazing here. It adds real refreshing flavour and perfectly compliments the sweetness and floral flavour of the other ingredients.

Orange: I use Naval oranges but anything in season will do! If you’d like to add some extra orange flavour, feel free to add a squeeze of juice into the mix.

Ice: Lots! We like a cold drink around these parts, especially on a hot day. I prefer larger cubes rather than crushed but you do you.

Tonic water: I prefer a sugar free tonic water on most occasions. Its not widely know but tonic water has ALOT of sugar in it to balance the extreme bitterness from the bark in which it is made from. You can go fancy or stay with a grocery store brand but stay with an unflavoured variety.

How to make Cucumber & Elderflower G&T

  • Into your cocktail glass or a large cup, add elderflower syrup, gin cucumber and orange. Use a spoon to stir and gently muddle (squeeze) the orange and cucumber to help release their juice.
  • Transfer to glass in necessary then add ice and top with tonic water.
  • Garnish with extra cucumber and orange if you like. Serve immediately.

Setting you up for success – Tips, Tricks & FAQs

  • Make the cocktail in bulk: Multiply ingredients to preference and pour everything except tonic water into a jug or jar. Withhold tonic water until serving. Serve over ice.
  • Make it a mocktail: Simply omit the gin and it still tastes great!
